Mr. Darryn Wright
Music Director - Southern Area Concert Band, Southern Stars Stage Band
Darryn Wright joined Southern Area Concert Band in 1997 playing alto
saxophone and took on the role of President in 1998. He held this
position until taking over the role of the band's Music Director in 2006 following Craig Seymour's retirement.
Darryn has been playing music (keyboard) since the age of 5, with his first public performance not long thereafter.
During his time at Southern Area, Darryn has played alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, flute and percussion.
Other than for the band, Darryn's passion lies in Musical Theatre and he has been Music Director for several school and amateur theatre company productions.
Since moving to Melbourne from Tasmania in 1996, Darryn has also performed with numerous instrumental and vocal ensembles around
Melbourne and is currently on the executive of the National and Vic. branches of The Australian Band and
Orchestra Directors'

Mr Trevor Cartwright
Conductor - Southern Area Training Band
Because Trevor Cartwright is so
new to the band, we haven't had a chance to put together any information
on him as yet! But don't worry this will change as soon as we get
a chance to do so, so please check back here frequently to find out more

Mr. Craig Seymour
Emeritus Musical Director - Southern Area Concert Band
Craig Seymour was Musical Director of the Southern Area Concert
Band for over 30 years and is an enthusiastic advocate. A graduate of
Eastern Washington University, USA, Craig retired from his full
time position with the Victoria Education Department as a specialist
woodwind instructor, conductor and accompanist in 2005. Craig has studied
conducting under (the late) Robert Rosen here in Australia, and Carmen
Dragon in the United States. Craig is a Life Member of the Southern Area
Concert Band.
Craig Seymour retired from the position of Music
Director of the Southern Area Concert Band in 2006, and has since been honoured with the title of
Emeritus Music Director for his years of service to the band and
community music.
