2011 Victorian State Championship Concert Band
The Southern Area Concert Band is one of Victoria's premier community based ensembles. Sponsored by the City of Kingston and based in Moorabbin, the Southern Area Concert Band has been contributing to the rich cultural life for which Melbourne is renowned by providing award-winning quality music to the public since 1971.
This diverse range of people, ages and backgrounds is cemented together by our love of performing live music both within our local community and around Australia. Our music library consists of a huge variety of styles ranging from classical and movie themes to big band and pop. Of course, no concert band library would be complete without a variety of marches and a selection of music from wind band composers such as Ralph Vaughn Williams, Gustav Holst, Percy Grainger and John Philip Sousa.
Our Next Public Performance:
Southern Area Concert Band's next public performance will be our annual May Concert. This year we will we joined by renowned Soloists Kate Amos (Soprano) and Adrian Glaubert (Tenor) in an afternoon presentation of operetta, musical theatre and symphonic wind music.
