Est. 1971
The Southern Area Concert Band is one of Victoria's premier community based ensembles.
​
Sponsored by the City of Kingston and based in Moorabbin, the Southern Area Concert Band family has been contributing to Melbourne's rich cultural life by providing award-winning quality music to the public since 1971.
​
Being a community ensemble, the Southern Area Concert Band and the Southern Area Wind Band are always seeking new musicians in all areas of the band (woodwind, brass and percussion).​

Players wanted for 2025
Southern Area Concert Band and the Southern Area Wind Band are always seeking new musicians in all areas of the band (woodwind, brass and percussion).
​
In particular, we need players on trumpet, french horn and double reeds for the Concert Band, and percussion for the Wind Band.

Wind Band
The Wind Band provides a supportive and fun environment for beginner and returning musicians to learn and develop their ensemble and instrumental skills.
Concert Band
Our 45-piece competing concert band, comprising woodwind, brass and percussion.
Performs for a wide variety of community and private events.
Stage Band
Southern Stars - Our Stage Band is a big band specialising in a variety of Jazz, Swing and Latin music. SSSB plays throughout the year at community and private events.
